Composition
Gilbert composes for a vast array of orchestral instruments, including solo piano and accompanied solo instruments, brass quartet, and various nontraditional chamber ensembles. His first completed orchestral work, Elegy for the Living, is a candidate for the 2025 Whitworth Concerto Competition. Gilbert is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition at Whitworth University, studying under Brent Edstrom.
Production
Gilbert began production at age 13 and hasn’t slowed down since. He produces and mixes electronic music such as dubstep, house, and industrial under the moniker Kylb3rt. He also records and produces a fusion of indie folk and metal under his own name. Gilbert studies production and mixing under Bryan Bogue.
Audio Engineering
Gilbert has experience in audio engineering in both live and studio settings. As a University Event Technician, he has run front-of-house audio for Billy Childs and the Whitworth Jazz Orchestra, as well as student-led chapel and hosanna worship teams. Gilbert also operates a home recording and production studio.
